Comprensive Insured Warranty cover To help you learn more about whether a BMW Comprehensive Warranty is right for you, we’ve answered a number of popular customer queries.
Why should I choose Comprehensive Cover?
A BMW Comprehensive Warranty provides you with the highest possible level of protection because it covers the majority of your vehicle’s components. It also covers wear and tear for covered components for the first 100,000 miles. By contrast, a Named Component Warranty provides mechanical and electrical breakdown cover for a smaller range of your vehicle's components, and does not cover the wear and tear of covered components. A BMW DriveLine Warranty offers a more basic level of cover, protecting only the main components that contribute to the engine, transmission and drive-train of your BMW. In addition, the claim limit for this policy is £5,000 (including VAT), rather than the purchase price paid for the vehicle.
How much does a BMW Insured Warranty with Comprehensive Cover cost?
The easiest way to find out how much the policy will cost you is to Get Your Quote online. In order to receive a quote, you’ll need to provide us with your vehicle’s registration number and its exact current mileage. If you’d rather speak to someone about taking out a policy, then you can call 0345 641 9790. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm and Saturday, 9am - 1pm, excluding public holidays.
How long does cover last?
You can choose to take out a BMW Comprehensive Warranty on an annual or ongoing, monthly basis.
Does Comprehensive Cover include Roadside Assistance?
A BMW Comprehensive Warranty includes Warranty Assistance, but not our full Roadside Assistance. Warranty Assistance means that, if you suffer from a breakdown in the UK more than half a mile away from home, our team will attempt to repair your vehicle at the side of the road. If this isn’t possible, we will pay the costs of recovering your vehicle and taking it to the nearest authorised BMW Retailer or BMW Service Workshop. However, Warranty Assistance is not a replacement for the full assistance services and benefits provided by BMW Roadside Assistance , which can be added to your policy. This will cover you at home, elsewhere or on the road in the UK, the Republic of Ireland and Continental Europe.
Are there any age or mileage restrictions associated with this policy type?
There is no upper age limit for this policy. However, to take out Comprehensive Cover, your vehicle must have completed under 100,000 miles at the time the warranty is purchased.
Can I still get cover if my vehicle has a mileage of over 100,000 miles?
If your vehicle has completed more than 100,000 miles, then you’re still able to take out a BMW DriveLine Warranty . This policy protects the main components that contribute to the engine, transmission and drive-train of your BMW, and is available to all vehicles – regardless of mileage.
Is Comprehensive Cover available on vehicles used for private hire or courier services?
Sadly, a BMW Comprehensive Warranty cannot cover any vehicle that is used for private hire or courier services.
You can choose to take out a BMW Comprehensive Warranty with or without an excess, which is an amount that’s payable each time if you make a claim under your policy. The larger the excess amount you choose to pay, the lower your premiums will be. With Comprehensive Cover, you can choose an excess of £0, £100 or £250.
What is the maximum claim limit?
The maximum claims limit for this policy is the purchase price of the insured vehicle, inclusive of VAT in any 12-month period.
Are high-voltage batteries covered by this policy?
A BMW Comprehensive Warranty does not cover your high-voltage battery where one is fitted. However, the high-voltage batteries of all BMW PHEV models are covered by BMW’s Battery Certificate for up to six years from the date of registration, or up to 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. BMW iPerformance fully electric vehicles are covered by BMW’s Battery Certificate for up to eight years from the date of registration or up to 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Similarly, the high-voltage batteries of all BMW i models (BMW i3 and BMW i8) are covered by BMW’s Battery Certificate for up to eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Is the charging cable for my BMW PHEV or full electric vehicle covered?
Sadly, charging cables are not covered by this policy. However, you may still have a form of cover depending on the age of your vehicle. This is because the standard 3-pin domestic plug (Mode 2) charge cable is covered by BMW for three years. In addition, the optional/accessory AC Fast or AC Rapid (Mode 3) charge cables are covered by BMW for two years from the date of purchase.
What should I do if my BMW Electric Vehicle runs out of charge?
